Hot Springs Sunset II Size:Small the wind-loaded couloirsThe hot creeks east of Mammoth run across the floor of the Long Valley Caldera the collapsed crater of a supervolcano that erupted 760,000 years ago. The heat in the ground is what's left of the magma chamber below it. Bree shot a winding stretch of one of the creeks at sunset, the Sierra crest already pink behind it, the steam coming off the water reading nearly the same color as the cloud.
