It is very sturdy and built of solid wood that is in great condition, except for a couple blemishes. It features an ornate "what not" shelf on top, and a convenient two shelf cabinet on the bottom. The drawer opens and closes smoothly. The drop down desk is very sturdy and can definitely accommodate writing, a laptop, or a typewriter. The interior pigeon hole section is in good condition, save for some red
