本品のような焼締陶の源流は、古代中国の殷（いん）代にはじまる灰陶と呼ばれる硬質土器にまで遡ります。大きな穴窯の中で、高温で焼き締める技法は、三国時代の朝鮮半島を統一しようとしていた新羅（しらぎ）へと伝わりました。

壁掛けにして、蔓を纏わせたり、細い竹筒を引っ掛けて花生けに使用できます。
