Probucol D7 Hydrochloride 26-dihydroxycholecalciferol and 24Probucol is a potent antioxidant that inhibits the oxidation of cholesterol in LDL, which prevents the formation of macrophage derived foam cells that lead to atherosclerotic vascular lesions. Probucol inhibits up to 80% efflux of cholesterol from J774 macrophages by impairing the translocation of ATP binding cassette transporter A1 from intracellular compartments to the plasma membrane.
