The exterior has wonderful parquetry detailing to the doors, with a parquetry border to each side of the box. The top lifts to open the drop front, revealing a green leather writing slope with a gilt border, two inlaid drawers, a pen try, two ink well holders, and five stationary holders (four smaller, one large). The pen tray lifts to reveal a small compartment beneath.
