While The Emperor of Palamecia is a great card, its more timing sensitive than something like Shantotto and would make a poor splash

Hildibrand Manderville would have been a really interesting card to see in the main set, at least mechanically

The question is whether the cost is worth what you get out of it

That says to me that players cannot accept giving opponents the chance to blow them out with removal on the enchanted creature before they get their value, and the removal is just far too good these days to believe that wont happen
